In April 2012, Sensei David Tamir begins his relocation process from Florida back to Israel, where he grew up and begun his Karate training at the age of 10 years of age,  This life-changing process includes transitioning his Florida-based Ueshiro Suntree Karate Dojo to a new Shihan , and the start of planning a new Dojo in Israel -- Ueshiro Neve Karate Dojo in Moshav Neve-Yamin,  

In commemoration of this life transition, and in honor of Master Ueshiro's April Birthday on the 50th Anniversary of his bringing Karate-Do to the USA, Sensei Tamir composes a unique Mandala symbolizing the prominence of Karate-Do as his "Shield of David"; strengthening him to persevere the challenges of life.  This mandala is NOT a replacement symbol of our Ueshiro SRKUSA emblem, but rather a karate work of  art, combining various elements symbolizing our special style.

I would like to thank Shihan Shlomo Dadon (Godan) and Shihan Nir Zamir (Godan) for visiting our new Ueshiro Neve [Oasis] Dojo in Neve Yamin Israel. Sensei Dadon traveled about 5 hours from Eilat.

Our new deshi enjoyed meeting and training together with our visiting Shihan from Eilat and Herzelia, respectively. Having visiting Sensei[s], woven from the same fabric of Ueshiro SRKUSA, is very powerful to impress upon new deshi the value of our karate and organization. The deshi were impressed and energized.

We had a full traditional Ueshiro SRKUSA workout followed by a compai with refreshing water melon. Please see attached photos.

Sensei Nir Zamir and Sempai Ofer Sinai (Shodan at the time) led special joint training at the Ueshiro Neve Karate Dojo, while Tamir Sensei traveled to the USA for a couple months to pack his Florida belongings for relocation back to Israel, and for attending the 50th Ueshiro SRKUSA Anniversary.   Zamir Sensei joined Tamir Sensei in August for the 50 Anniversary.

The path of Karate-Do, laid out for us by Master Ueshiro with Hanshi Scaglione as our guide to "hike" and "live" it every day, is filled with hard work and sweat; but, with great joy and vigor to shower and invigorate us along the way.  Along this lifelong path are exciting milestones for us to reach and enjoy and take a break at, to soak in the milestone and reflect on the journey we traversed and the journey ahead.  We taste and experience and enjoy the entire journey -- both path and milestones combined.

This reminds me of a challenging hike I did at Yosemite National Park in California last year filled with steep climbs, rolling drops, multiple waterfalls, awesome trees, magnificent rock formations, breathtaking views, sounds, smells and much more than I can express into words.  Every waterfall was a unique awe inspiring milestone to reach.  Once reached, we wanted more.  We wanted to get to the next water fall and enjoy the evolving path forward.

It is incredible how fortunate we are to have a daily magnificent "hike" organized by Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA.  This hike is filled with an awe-inspiring trek and on-going milestones.  We are about to reach a huge milestone in just three weeks -- the biggest one yet -- the 50th anniversary celebration in New York City.  Prepare yourself in your hike towards this MAGNANIMOUS event [as Sensei Garcia would say].  Use your GAN [perception] to sense it and soak it all in; use your SOKU [foundation] to root yourself down with every step feeling solid and stable; use your TANDEN [gut/center of gravity] to drive your momentum forward; and use your RIKI [climactic explosion of focus, speed, and power] to capture and conquer it all -- a glorious waterfall shower of joy and vigor!

Keep training as we prepare along the path of our Karate-Do towards the 50th celebration weekend of August 10-12.

Looking forward to experiencing this together with all of you in NYC with Hanshi and the Kyoshi[s] showing us the way.

The big celebration honoring Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro's 50 years of Shorin-Ryu Karate in the United States is nearly here! Domo arigato gozaimasu to Hanshi and the Shihan of the various dojo and clubs for mobilizing your students and supporting the Hombu Dojo in our efforts with the Commemorative Journal and arranging three days of unforgettable workouts, seminars, reviews and demonstrations.

The attached printer-friendly "Program of Events" will hopefully answer many of your last-minute logistical questions. This is also a "last call" for RSVPs regarding attendance at Saturday's all-day event and menu choice for Saturday's dinner (salmon, chicken or vegetarian). If you don't RSVP you will be accommodated as supplies last.

In the big picture, just remember that at the event you represent the highest standards of courtesy, loyalty and excellence that are associated with this organization that bears Master Ueshiro's name. Try to capture some of the excitement and sense of opportunity Master Ueshiro must have felt upon his arrival here on September 14, 1962. The experiences will last you a lifetime.

Sensei Tzvi Bar-Shai, from Kyoshi Seeger's Ueshiro Pine Forrest Palisades New York Dojo, visited Ueshiro Neve Karate Dojo, while Sensei Tamir was away visiting the USA.  Sensei Bar-Shai taught a special class, attended by deshi from both Ueshiro Neve Dojo and visiting deshi and Sempai from Sensei Nir Zamir's Ueshiro Herzliya Dojo.  Sensei Bar-Shai, previously served in the famous Sayeret Egoz, an elite Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commando unit specializing in guerrilla warfare, special reconnaissance, and direct military action .  Later, Sensei Bar-Shai relocated to New York and joined Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA, eventually becoming a Sensei and Shihan, opening his own Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu New Rochelle Karate Dojo in New York.
